Lets put it this way. If you dont register then I dont know who I am talking to! I dont know if you are interested in what I am saying. I dont know what action you will be taking as a result. I might as well be talking to myself.
Last week according to just my Linkedin and FB Groups over 1,000 of you were looking, reading, perhaps taking note, wondering what you could do to make a difference, where would you start, how would you leverage on what you have already done in life, what else could you, would you want to learn, who from, why, and what would you do with it?
Wouldnt you like to follow up, ask questions, chat, communicate, collaborate, form partnerships? Whats stopping you? Well actually just that at present we have one-way communication and as any basic skills teacher knows one-way communication is a complete waste of time. So I need to know what else you want to know, what can I help you with, where are you, what are your particular circumstances, whats your vision and how do you propose to achieve it.
On a sensitive note I have collaborated for the past 25 years with some amazing people, all of whom knew more than I did, far more. I am thinking particularly of my soul-mate Luigi Incatasciato (his profile is still on Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/luigi-incatasciato-2b9ba51/). We collaborated on writing European bids, he spoke NO English, I spoke NO Italian, we never met in person. He knew only a smattering of learning & Development, vocational education, assessment, verification etc but we tackled domestic violence, issues of womens rights, all the things where we wanted to make a difference.
Unfortunately, Luigi left us suddenly and that impacted me enormously, not least of which was what would happen to the knowledge? Surely he has to have left a legacy. Does it all stop, does it die with us, or are we meant to leave it as a legacy?. As it happens Covid, the referendum in UK gave me the opportunity to explore how (when I fall off my perch) what will happen to my knowledge, generated over 35 years of working life - at least the education part if you dont count the whole 80+.
Luckily technology has come to the rescue. We can now do this within a Knowledge Base, you can explore, pick the bits you want, use them (as I like to say) as the building blocks in the foundation of the house, put in the walls, the windows, the roof etc Dont let A.I. scrape a load of rubbish from the internet, add it to the good stuff and leave that as a legacy. Share what works, where the best practice is, who is really doing being innovational.
So, what do I want you to do, I want you to Register. Registration costs nothing, membership would be great, but if you cant afford it then contribute, collaborate. Who knows, perhaps this IS the way to make a difference.
